Crawley Town suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat away to Accrington Stanley in a League Two encounter on Tuesday. The result leaves Scott Lindsey's side sitting 21st in the division with four points from their opening five games.

Charlie Caton was the star for the hosts, scoring twice to take his personal tally to four for the season. He opened the scoring after just four minutes, giving Accrington an early advantage. Crawley responded well and found an equaliser through Danilo Orsi in the 20th minute, showing the fight that has characterised their early season.

Accrington Stanley regained control after the break. Caton struck again in the 55th minute, this time assisted by Liam Coyle, to restore the home side's lead. The pressure continued and Devon Matthews extended the advantage to 3-1 in the 63rd minute, heading home from a Josh Woods cross. Crawley Town refused to lie down and created several chances to get back into the game. Ade Adeyemo saw a powerful effort crash against the crossbar in the 75th minute.

The Reds' persistence was rewarded in the 79th minute. Pemi Aderoju found the net, converting a cross from Kellan Gordon to set up a tense finale at 3-2. Crawley pressed hard for a late equaliser in the remaining minutes but could not find a way through the Accrington defence a second time.
