Crawley Town's League Two match against Walsall has been postponed due to international call-ups. The fixture, originally scheduled for Saturday 3 October, will be rescheduled after three Crawley players were selected for national team duty.
"Crawley Town Football Club can confirm that our match against Walsall on Saturday, the 3rd of October, has been postponed due to the Reds receiving three international call-ups," the club said in a statement on Monday. Dion Pereira has been called up by Antigua and Barbuda, while Jonny Russell and Nicholas Michalski have been selected for Northern Ireland and England youth squads respectively.
The club congratulated the trio on their recognition. "The club would like to congratulate the trio on being called up to represent their nations on the international stage, and wishes them all success during their time away," the statement added.
This postponement creates a break in the fixture schedule for a Crawley side currently 24th in the League Two standings. They have taken just four points from their opening seven matches. The team's recent form shows one draw and four defeats from their last five outings, including a 2-0 loss at Grimsby Town last time out.
A new date for the rearranged Walsall fixture will be announced by the EFL in due course.
